The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has revealed that it issued over 100 notices of power outages during the first quarter of 2024.
These notices, ECG said in response to a demand by the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission for a load-shedding timetable, served to facilitate maintenance on its transmission equipment, as stated by the power distributor.
On March 18, the PURC gave the power distributor up to March 27 to provide the timetable informing the public of power outages from January 1, 2024, onwards.
While many regions across the country have experienced frequent power cuts, with citizens clamouring for a load-shedding schedule to aid in planning, ECG management maintains that no schedule will be provided due to technical challenges underlying the cuts.
