Singathon: I’ve paid to speed up GWR evaluation – Asantewaa
Afua Asantewaa Owusu Aduonum has revealed she has paid to speed up the Guinness World Records’ review of the evidence for her singing marathon.
She disclosed this to Accra-based Joy Prime.
“Right after the attempt they requested for our files. We were putting everything together and because of the popularity of the event, they reached out that they are waiting for the videos, so we have submitted everything,” the tourism ambassador explained.
“But if you want it quick, you pay an amount of money and they review your files within five working days. Officially it’s $650 but when you’re going to pay into the account you have to pay some transaction fees. Totally, we did about $750 dollars for the priority,” she added.
Asantewaa sang for five days starting on December 24, 2023, achieving 126 hours and 52 minutes. The journalist and entrepreneur aimed to break the standing GWR singathon record of 105 hours.
